Because ‘Detox’ sounds better than ‘Botox’…

After my last post about Coconut Oil & Oil Pulling I received a great deal of feedback from everyone so I decided to share another natural, healthy item to incorporate into your beauty routine. Admit it, sometimes it feels that you learn more via Pinterest than you ever did in high school. This time I found a pin about Green Tea Detox Bath via another fellow blogger Sunshine Southerner. This is an easy, simple way to detox your body without constricting yourself to a crazy diet or buying expensive products that promise unrealistic results.

Green Tea always tops the list as a healthy herb to incorporate into your daily diet due to all the benefits it possesses. According to those smarties at Harvard Medical School Green Tea has a great source of antioxidants and goes on to talk about tons of benefits your body receives from drinking green tea, so why not bathe in it?

Soaking up Green Tea!

  • I use about 5-10 tea bags
  • Use warm water (as hot as you can take)
  • Once bath is filled almost half-way proceed to put the tea bags in
  • I have also added:
  • Olive Oil (3 tablespoons) Helps hydrate your skin
  • Baking Soda (5 shakes) baking soda can help neutralize skin acidity and promote elimination of toxins. Soaking in baking soda can help refresh, renew and soften your dry skin.
  • Epsom Salt ( 1 cup) epsom salt relaxes sore muscles and softens skin; Taking an Epsom salt bath helps restore magnesium and sulfate in your system
  • Apple Cider Vinegar ( 1 cup) apple cider vinegar will draw toxins out through the skin and help jumpstart the cleansing process. This can also help relieve joint pain as well as skin conditions like eczema and acne.

Detox Bath Tips:

  • Need to have a glass of water to drink while bathing: When taking a detox bath you sweat & must to stay hydrated.
  • I take a detox bath once a week, but hope to make it twice a week
  • Drink a green tea everyday and save the tea bag (I put it in tupperware and stick it in the fridge) That way you are consuming the green tea, which has countless benefits, and reusing the tea in your bath. If you choose to use new tea bags then only use about 3-6 in your bath.
  • You can get dizzy while taking the bath so again, make sure you hydrate before/after and during
  • My bath lasts about 30 min

Once you are bathing in the detox mixture you can feel the pores of your skin open up and sweat out all the toxins cooped up in your body. After the bath your skin feels silky smooth and will already look healthier. Though I have only taken the green tea detox bath a few times I am happy with the results and hope to take it more often. Who knew green tea was more than just a healthy drink choice?
